Drawing From My Own Work

I took this photo a few years ago in the conservator at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, USA.  It’s always a great trip heading over there!

As you may have noticed, I’ve been trying to learn how to draw.  One of things I’ve been practicing with have been flowers.

I did an search on flowers to draw from, and  I had a big DUH moment.  I have plenty of flowers in my OWN photographic catalog that I can draw from from for practice.  Ha!

So, I drew this orchid.  It’s ok, I guess, especially since I did it quickly in a 15 minute time frame, ie my morning break.  I didn’t have a color copy printed to get the colors right, but at least I could get some of the shading ok.

Here’s my drawing:

It’s “meh,” but it works.  At least you can sort of tell what it is!

During lunch, I’ll choose another flower and work on that, and try to improve.
